Curing your Urinary Tract Infections or Uti Naturally

Urinary tract infections or UTI are very common. Women are more susceptible to getting an infection because they have a shorter urethra than men and can get bacteria into the urinary tract more easily.

But in men UTI can also lead to a prostate infection. This is more difficult to cure and you will definitely need to get your doctor involved if this happens as it is difficult to cure a prostate infection with antibiotics as many of them do not penetrate the infected prostate tissue.

Whenever you suspect a urinary tract infection you need to deal with it as quickly as possible. As seen above, it can turn into a prostate infection or it can also migrate up into the kidneys causing a kidney infection which is much more dangerous than a urinary tract infection.

The most common cause of UTI is when bacteria from the rectum or the vagina enters the urinary tract through the urethra. Once this bacteria enters into the urethra it travels upward into the bladder or other parts of the urinary tract causing an infection. Waiting too long before urinating can also cause bladder infections. The bladder can be stretched too far and over time will weaken the bladder muscle causing the bladder to retain and not empty out completely. Some of the urine is then left in the bladder and may be a risk in causing urinary tract infection or bladder infection.

Symptoms of urinary tract infections are:

An urge to urinate that cannot be delayed

A sharp pain or burning sensation in the urethra when urinating

Urgency with very little urine released

Urine may have blood in it

Pain in the lower abdomen or back

If you have a kidney infection instead, you may experience back pain, chills, fever, nausea and vomiting as well as the UTI symptoms.

How to treat urinary tract infection using natural remedies:

1. The number one rule in treating UTI is to drink lots of water. This will help flush the bacteria out of your bladder and urinary tract.

2. Avoid eating dairy products and chocolate. You should also avoid spicy foods, carbonated drinks, alcohol and coffee.

3. D-mannose, a simple sugar and similar to glucose, cures UTI about 90 percent of the time in only one to two days. It is a little expensive but convenient to use.

4. Cranberry juice is an old staple in curing urinary tract infection. It is probably the most well known remedy. When using cranberry juice be sure to get 100% unsweetened cranberry juice. One way to deal with the tartness is to dilute the juice in water as you need to drink a lot of water anyway.

These natural remedies should resolve your problem. If they don't, you should seek help from your medical care provider.

My body doesnt' cope well with anitbiotics. And water or cranberry juice just aint cutting in. Any other treatments, specifically natural ones?

You sound like you are of legal drinking age. You can drink two wine coolers back to back and that will take care of it. You can also use Uristat to deal with the pain. It's OTC and you can get it at any pharmacy.

I found that antibiotics usually just made a bad situation worse because they led to a yeast infection AFTER the UTI was cured :-( Severe overuse of antibiotics can cause the immune system to crash resulting in many other immune deficiency related ailments such as chronic fatigue, candida, and sinus infection. Low level bacterial, fungal and viral infections can thrive in the body when the immune system becomes impaired. Of course PREVENTION is the best course of action! Once you have cleared the infection, DAILY consumption of Cranberry juice or unsweetened orange juice kept the infections away, and drinking plenty of water keeps the tract clean. I have been drinking Mangosteen Juice on a regular basis for over a year, and have not had a single episode of either UTI or a Yeast Infection ever since. Best of luck! Feel free to email me if you have any questions :-)

I am a certified herbalist. Garlic is natures antibiotic. 4 cloves has the power of one dose of antibiotics but of course does not work in the same way. Goldenseal (2 three times a day), Echinacea (2capsules every hour for up to a week with one week break), Cayenne (2 three times a day or more if you like...it will not hurt your but it will make you hot if you dont have air conditioning!), Parsley tea (at least 3 cups per day) are all good.

Go to either a healthfood store or a pharmacy that carries homeopathic medicines. Buy Apis 30c and Cantharis 30c. If they don't have those potencies, don't worry, buy whatever they DO have, and one of each. Try the Apis first, using 3-4 tablets every 15 minutes for the first hour, and then going to 4 doses a day, 1/2 hour before breakfast, lunch, dinner and bedtime, making sure not to brush w/ toothpaste for at least a half hour before taking the medicine. You must not drink coffee while taking homeopathic medicines, as well, so be careful of this or they will not work. They're extremely delicate, but extremely strong energy medicines that work thru the mucous membranes of the mouth. Their action is not completely understood by modern science to this day, but their efficacy is undeniable in my experience. Two books you could read (and that I recommend you buy) are Homeopathic Medicine At Home by Panos and Heimlich, and Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicine, by Dana Ullman. If you read the relevant sections on UTI's first and pick the remedy that most closely ressembles your own unique symptom profile, you'll save yourself a bit of money. As soon as the symptoms change or abate, discontinue the medicine, as it is entirely symptom-picture based. As soon as there is a change, it's either time to stop remedies completely, or to change to another remedy until the disease/complaint is gone. As your body does not cope well w/ antibiotics (Most people's don't whether they are aware of this or not...), homeopathy would be ideal for you, as would the study and use of herbs. Use lots of probiotics to prevent the UTI's from returning.

Have you tried the cranberry vitamins. Available at Sam's club

Have you checked thoroughly on what caused it? it is unlikely to relieve if you don"t know the cause, and even may lead to negative effects.

This message is just in case the cranberry juice you've used came from the grocery store. If it did, it probably had added sugar in it. The sugar can impede the effectiveness of the cranberry juice. You can get concentrated cranberry juice from health food stores with no extra sugar added. You mix it with about 4 parts water and drink it. You could also try olive leaf extract in capsules taken orally. That might help. Good luck and be well. Kelley

to treat it, no. The only way to get rid of it is by taking antibiotics. Discuss with your doctor what is the lowest dose yet powerful enough to get rid of it. There are over the counter treatments for the discomfort only, it won't heal it, but will make you less uncomfortable. One is cranberry pills, don't drink the juice. It's mainly sugar and will actually make it worse. Drink as much water as you can. Also, AZO makes a pills that kind of "numb" the area when you urinate it out. It really works. It does change the color of your urine, so don't be alarmed when you have orange urine. Beyond that the doctor has to help

You can treat a UTI without antibiotics. You MUST make sure you have gotten rid of the infection, though! If an infection goes untreated, you could develop a kidney infection. Some drugstores carry home test strips, otherwise, get tested again at your doctor's office when you have completed treatment. Make sure you do this, even if you feel better! Avoid all alcohol until the infection is gone, use concentrated cranberry capsules to avoid the extra sugar. An herb that is widely used in for this is Uva Ursi. I would not recommend it! It's almost as harsh as antibiotics and has too many contraindications. Try "Nature's Way" Urinary capsules with cranberry. I have had great results with these, taking 3 in the morning and 3 at night to treat, and one a day to help prevent. And eat yogurt!
