A small amount of blood in the urine is another symptom you should look for. Immediately call your medical care professional to have a urinalysis done.

Urine that has a foul odor and/or is cloudy is another symptom of UTI infections.

A low grade fever accompanied by any of the above mentioned symptoms could also be a symptom of a UTI.

The only way you will know for sure that you are indeed suffering from a UTI infection is by having the necessary urinalysis performed. Your doctor can order this to be done and in a short time you will have the results. The course of treatment decided to treat your UTI will be determined by medications you might be taking as well as other heath conditions you suffer from.

  • *alwayssmile* asked on Tue, 14 Jul, 2009
Is by a urine sample? Thinking so, not sure how a blood sample would show anything up? or would it? And from moderate to severe UTI, what treatment would be used? Need to know before going to the doctor so i know what to expect. Thanks!

  • tmass100 replied on Tue, 14 Jul, 2009
Yes its a urine sample. They usually give you a pill to take to treat the infection and it turns your urine orange for a few days. It usually clears up in a few days

Yes, you pee in a cup and they look for bacteria and pus cells. If you have an infection your white blood cell count goes up. Blood tests would detect that. Usually they have you pee in a cup. They treat it with antibiotics. Start drinking LOTS and LOTS of water right now. It will help.
