Our Readers' Questions

How much would a vet charge for a puppies UTI treatment?

  • asked on Sun, 10 Apr, 2011
On average, in the US. I googled away but was unsuccessful.
  • Wren replied on Sun, 10 Apr, 2011
There is no "average" as every case is different and costs of treatment vary widely based on the diagnostics the vet needs to run (urinalysis, urine culture, and possibly blood work, and bladder x-ray if predisposing conditions are suspected) and the antibiotics used to treat it as well as the length of treatment which can very based on the type of bacteria causing the infection.
  • Kit_kat replied on Sun, 10 Apr, 2011
you will need to call the vets in your area each one is different for example a dog neuter in my area can be as little as $45 and up to $250 there are 5 vets and a planned pet hood clinic all are different prices
  • Proud owner of a maltipoo replied on Sun, 10 Apr, 2011
A UTI in Hawaii ran us close to 90.00 depending on what medicine the vet gives her.
  • Ch Mickey UD replied on Sun, 10 Apr, 2011
Just call your vet and ask as vet prices vary around the country. You are probably looking at an exam, urinalysis & some antibiotics as a minimum. The cost of the antibiotics will depend on which one is prescribed and how much your dog weighs. Your vet's office can most certainly give you a ballpark.
